During the HEAT TREAT 2019 conference, Fluxtrol Inc., in conjunction with the ASM Heat Treating Society, will be recognizing and awarding academic researchers and young scientists in the field of thermal processing.
Metro-Detroit, February 1, 2019 /BusinessWire/ - The ASM (American Society of Materials) Heat Treating Society is holding their 30th annual conference and exhibition, “Heat Treat 2019,” October 15-17, 2019 at COBO Center in Detroit, Michigan.
During the conference, two Fluxtrol/ASM awards will be given, the “Prof. Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award,” and the “Fluxtrol Student Research Award”.
The late Professor Dr. Valentin Nemkov was one of the world’s foremost experts in induction heating techniques. He helped to develop and enhance Fluxtrol‘s leading induction heating products and soft magnetic materials (SMC). For his invaluable contributions, Fluxtrol is honored to provide an academic research award in his name.
Prof. Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award
Fluxtrol is pleased to announce a new competition-based award and recognition program for Post-Doctoral Researchers, Lecturers and Professors (Academic Researchers) seeking to encourage increased participation of Academic Institutions in ASM Heat Treating Society (HTS), and to provide attractive offers and opportunities in the worldwide Materials and Thermal Processing communities. Fluxtrol and ASM are soliciting abstract submissions based on thermal processing of metal/metal-containing components for this competition. To be eligible you must be an Academic Researcher who is currently conducting research and/or overseeing the research of students pursuing an undergraduate or post graduate degree at a University, Institute or College (University) in the field of thermal processing.
The winner will receive $2,500 that can be used to support research activity at the Academic Researcher’s Institution. The award can be used for travel expense (researcher or student), conference fees, scholarship money, or laboratory equipment.
All candidates will be required to be present onsite in Detroit, MI. The winner of the competition will be announced on Thursday, October 17th in the ASM HTS Solutions Center, courtesy of Fluxtrol.
Fluxtrol Student Research Award
Fluxtrol will also offer a young innovative scientists/professionals competition-based award and recognition program, seeking to encourage participation of young scientists in ASM HTS, and to provide attractive offers and opportunities in the worldwide Thermal Processing community. Fluxtrol and ASM are soliciting abstract submissions based on thermal processing of metal/metal-containing components for this competition. This is a 2-step competition encompassing a poster competition, as well as an oral presentation competition for semi-finalists. Visit the event website for specific details and eligibility requirements.
To be eligible you must be a student who is currently pursuing an undergraduate or post graduate degree at a University, Institute or College (University) or are within one year of graduation, but conducted the research while still enrolled at a University, having completed an aspect of thermal processing research.
The winners will receive $2,500 cash prize for 1st, $1,000 for 2nd, and $500 for 3rd place and a plaque.
The research must be presented by the student author onsite, at the conference, in Detroit, MI USA.
