Professor Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award and Fluxtrol Student Research Award Winners Announced at HEAT TREAT 2019

Detroit, October 17, 2019 /BusinessWire/ - Fluxtrol Inc. presented two awards during the HEAT TREAT 2019 conference held October 15-17th, 2019 at COBO Center, Detroit, Michigan. The Fluxtrol/ASM awards given were the Prof. Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award and Fluxtrol Student Research Award.

The Conference Chair and Fluxtrol’s Director of Engineering, Robert Goldstein, presented the following prestigious awards:

Prof. Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award

Congratulations to Professor Rick Sisson, Worchester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and Centre for Heat Treatment Excellence (CHTE) for winning the Prof. Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award. Dr. Sisson received $2,500 for excellence in academic research in the field of thermal processing. The award supports research activity at the Academic Researcher’s Institution.

Fluxtrol Student Research Award

Congratulations to the following student winners whose research was deemed by judges to be of extraordinary quality and impact to the field of thermal processing:

1st Place – Mr. Harish Narasimhan Chakravarty, Materials Science and Engineering, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI – Effect of Alloying Addition of Aluminum and Iron on Creep Resistance of Titanium-Chromium Alloy. He received a $2,500 award.

2nd Place – Ms. Christina Maria Katsari, McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada – Taguchi Design for Heat Treatment of Rene 65 Components. She received a $1,000 award.

3rd Place – Mr. Dalton Garrett, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Colorado School of Mines, Advanced Steel Processing and Products Research Center, Golden, CO – Nb and Prior Microstructure Effects on Induction Hardening Response of 1060 Steel. He received a $500 award.

Other semi-finalists included, Mr. Milan Agnani, Ms. Indranie Rambarran, and Ms. Geeta Kumari.
